Dave's Best of the Web.

Half.Com - Books, Movies, Music, and More.

Want to save a bundle on textbooks? Don't like paying $20 for the new releases? Wish you could get your hands on a rather expensive non-fiction text? Want to listen to your favorite obscure music artist? If so, you should visit Half.Com. Half.Com is now owned by eBay, but this hasn't been a bad thing.

Basically, Half.Com is similar to eBay except without the bidding. This means prices can be a little bit higher - but the stock is much wider. Items are listed by their current quality (e.g. brand new, like new, etc.) and each seller determines the price for the item. When you purchase the item they ship it and you receive it a few days later.

Yes, there is some problems with fraud. I've been ripped off perhaps 3-5 times out of the hundred times or so I have purchased off of Half.Com. The good news is that Half.Com has a feedback system where you can leave negative comments about a bad seller and also a pretty generous compensation plan. I've been reimbursed by Half.Com for almost every purchase I've ever had go bad - sometimes even for items which don't fall into their compensation plan.

Half.Com is a sleek site with great prices. An excellent place to shop for birthday or holiday presents.
