Telligent Releases Community Server 2007 Beta 1.

Telligent has released Community Server 2007 Beta 1, the upcoming successor. It includes new theming features at its core. Something which was utterly necessary as the previous CS theming was quite complex. Not that other CMS systems are better (such as DotNetNuke).

I'll be interested to see the full release when it comes out. I don't have the time to beta test it, though I might give it a try when it reaches a late beta or early release candidate. Still, because of the lack of a full-featured CMS and because of the many features DotNetNuke offers, I've been sliding more and more in that direction. I'd say the only clearcut advantages CS still holds over DNN is (1) its speed and (2) its blogging. I will probably keep using CS for blogging, but I think I'm moving to DNN for everything else. I also like the fact that DNN is open source. I hate being locked into a product, especially when there can be dramatic licensing changes.
