Joost signs deal with Viacom.

The CTO of Joost, formerly known as The Venice Project, Dirk-Willem van Gulik sent out an email to individuals who signed up for the Joost beta today in which he announced the expected deal between Joost and Viacom. Joost is expected to take a great step forward in implementing an IPTV solution, especially because of the previous success of the business founders - with Skype and a P2P network. Viacom will be a valuable add-on to the service as it is their first major content distributor and will probably place other distributors in a position of join the party or possibly be the last one to join the wagon. Viacom will be adding shows and films from several of their channels including MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, CMT, MTV2, Logo, Spike TV, mtvU, VH1, BET, and Paramount Pictures.
